Fallen Soldier: Bryan J. Durman

Officer Bryan J Durman, 27, was killed April 29, 2010 when he was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver at a Lexington, KY intersection at about 10pm that evening.

He was investigating a noise ordinance violation. He had responded to the location to locate the driver of a vehicle that had been playing music too loudly when he was struck as he stepped outside of his vehicle.
Durman was on the wrestling team at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. After graduation in 2001, he joined the U.S. Air Force. He was a staff sergeant and served in both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

It was in the Air Force that he met the soldier who would become his wife. Durman left the Air Force in July 2007 and by December he was enrolled in the Lexington police academy. "He loved his police work," Margaret Durman said. Margaret Durman said her son was respectful of those whom he arrested. "He did everything he could to make sure that people got justice."

He is survived by his wife, Brandy, and a son.
